Tsunami Tuesday

Wednesday, June 15th, 2005

The inaugural Tag Tuesday was last night. It was a great time until mother nature ended our fun.

We started at Gordon Biersch, which was a great place for socializing and meeting people. However, when it came time for Kevin to give his presentation, it was just too loud in there. So, we moved outside and sat along the Embaracadero.

Kevin preceded to give his presentation outside, sans-slides. Then Stewart gave his spiel about tagging at Flickr (photo).

Then came the good part.

We had some good discussion, then, among the 25 or so people who were there. One of the things that came up several times (because I kept bringing it back up :-)) was location-based tagging. For anyone who’d like to discuss location-based encoding in HTML we have a wiki page at Technorati on the topic. Please contribute your thoughts to this.

Eran has a better summary of the evening, which ended as the coast guard came by to tell us that there was an earthquake off the coast and a tsunami warning.

Your blog annoys me

Sunday, June 12th, 2005

Things that annoy me about your blog.

  1. Put your name in your url or the title of your blog. I have trouble remembering who writes which blog, please help.
  2. Publish a fulltext feed. Summary feeds are annoying.
  3. Don’t do stuff that make all your posts pop up as new in my aggregator. This is especially annoying when you switch back and forth between fulltext and summary.
  4. Publish your email on your blog. I might like to email you sometime.
  5. Tell us where you live (city/state will do). More specific location info is really good. I keep meeting fellow bloggers who I live surprisingly close to.
  6. Put a pic of yourself up somewhere. I’d like to recognize you if ever we encounter each other. (I know there are probably some people who would feel uncomfortable doing this. Fine.)

wordpress + kubrick + hReview = trouble

Friday, June 10th, 2005

If you try using with Kubrick, the default template for WordPress, you will notice a bit of a problem. You see, hReview has a class called “description”? and so does Kubrick. Unfortunately the default stylesheet for Kubrick styles the description class as white, giving use white on white text- not the easiest to read.

If you’d like to do an hReview with Kubrick, here’s a drop-in stylesheet replacement.

For the the DIY crowd out there, all you need to do is change the .description selector to only select div#headerimg div.description and then move all style rules for .description into that block.

For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, just come back later.

hReview 0.2, creator updated

Thursday, June 9th, 2005

Tantek released an update to the hReview spec on Tuesday.

I’ve updated the hReview creator accordingly. The only real change (beside fixing bugs) was to add a version field.
