Don’t do it to me like that, iTunes

Dear iTunes 7.0,

I thought I knew you better than this? I thought you’d always be there for me.

You’ve changed and I’m not sure how to deal with that.

I can understand the color changes. Maybe you got a bit of a tan over the summer? Maybe you don’t like green so much anymore. These things I can deal with.

But what about your interface? First off, what’s with the all-caps in the side bar? WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING AT ME? What’d I ever do to you? You’re just like your mother.

Why can’t I collapse those sections? I know you want me to shop at your store– you’re really proud of it and all– but do I really have to take this shopping cart around with me everywhere? Can’t I hide it away somewhere when I’m not shopping?

Also, while I’m at it, there’s another change that bothers me. Rememer when I used to hit Cmd-1 and you’d open up a player window for me? Do you remember those days? I thought we had a good thing going there– for years I’ve been hitting Cmd-1 and you’d be there for me. Now I don’t even know how to get your attention.

At least you still work with X-tunes.

Sincerely,
Ryan

Preach the Word my brother. I was thinking the same things, especiallly about caps in the sidebar.

DOWN with caps! HA! I agree.
    X-tunes, eh?
I prefer my Synergy or even Menuet, but for opensource freeness, this app probably works well. never heard of it before, though.

Let’s hope this new iteration of Apple’s UI genius isn’t so pervasive with everything inside Leopard, eh?

good that I couldn’t be bothered upgrading. Drop me a line if you need the old installer.
What are you talking xTunes, I hope the ourTunes still does its job!

I linked to X-Tunes already in the post.

I gotta tell ya, you’re freakin me out. I was doing a search the other day for Textmate, and there you were – I thought, haha, some other guy named ryan. I was doing a search for bicycling in SF, another hit. I just did a search in flickr for precita park, and there were 10 photos on Folsom, so I clicked to see your site again – which features this post that is the topic of a lengthy email thread between some friends and I… =:o

Sigh, iTunes is trying to be hip and to associate with a generation of youths who don’t know how to turn caps lock off.

I know I’m a little behind on this commnet, but I am behind in general… I’m still using a PC. But damn the luck that I can no longer have the good library view in iTunes. And I hate the big ass album artwork views.
