bye bye iTMS

For awhile, I’ve been buying most of my music from the iTunes music store. Not any more.

I just got a shipment from Amazon with 6 CDs in it, which brought more excitement that a download never could.

I know others are going the other direction, but I’ve found that buying all my music digitally is just too ephemeral. I love having a shelf full of gem cases for my CDs.

Sure, whenever I get a CD, the first thing I do is rip it to MP3. Still, I really appreciate having the physical media.

dood. i am totally with you on the physical media front…while over the past two or three years my actual cd-in-gem-case spending has decreased, i still relish in the music-geek accomplishment of having hundreds of cds vs. thousands of mp3s. (okay, so i have both. whatevs.) plus, i get alot of discs for free b/c of my job. that helps. :)

and nothing can compare to the satisfaction of opening up a gem case & pouring over the booklet. am i right or am i right, or am i right….haha.

I bought Robbie Williams from itunes and thought about the cool factor with it.

But I missed the tangible feel of the CD, as well. Plus, my father recently got a CD player so I am buying classical music for him, burning it on my computer for myself and then sending him the CDs. We both benefit that way.
