IU wins NCAA soccer tournament
The University of Indiana just won the NCAA Div 1 men’s soccer title 1-1 (3-2 on PKs) over the University of California- Santa Barbara.
For UCSB, that’s the worst way to lose and, of course, this isn’t the first soccer championship to be won on penalty kicks, but in my mind, penalty kicks are the most un-soccer-like way to break a tie. The only other viable option would be replays, but that’s not likely to happen in today’s world of TV broadcasts.
Oh yeah, and according to my mother, a PK shootout is rough on the players’ mothers, too.

I wondered if you were watching that game. What a damn pitiful way to lose a national
championship. Time to do away with those things in major events like NCAA championships.
Let me continue my soccer wrant by again complaining about the KC metro and the lack of testicular
fortitude when it comes to helping out local sports teams. Now, the only successful team in
the city could be on their way out because people really think that a .5% on every dollar spent
is a terrible tax hike. Give me a break. Maybe if I were buying something that cost $1,000,000
I might worry about .5% or however much it was. Yes, lets pretend to love our Chiefs and our,
forgive me, Royals, then decide they’re not worth half a penny out of every dollar, and then
screw over the Wizards. As much as I love KC, I am mildly pissed off. UCO, (the college here in
Edmond, OK) even though losing the MLS bid to Salt Lake, is still remodeling their stadium for
the event that they ever get another opportunity to obtain an MLS franchise. Maybe they will be
able to exercise that option sooner than imagined. Okay, that’s enough for now. You hit a nerve
with that post.
